Meinen Dahlien ging es dieses Jahr schlecht, ich glaube, das liegt an der sehr schweren Erde, in die ich sie gepflanzt habe. Würden Sie diese behalten und einlagern oder aufgeben und von vorne beginnen?

  1. What do the tubers feel like? If soft and squishy, cut your losses and bin them. If nice and firm, store over winter and try again next year with lots of TLC.

It may not be the soil, looking at them they look very young dahlias so I wouldn’t expect too much out of them yet.

And it’s up to you really and how instant you want it. Me personally I’d absolutely save them and plant next year, they’re only going to get stronger and healthier year by year.

Alternatively if you need an instant display, go buy some need tubers from a reliable source. 99% of places selling tubers are going to sell smaller ones than your pic.

Also depending where you are in the country you may not need to uplift. I’m in Yorkshire and I don’t. The last post I think on my profile shows the dahlias in bloom, they went crazy this year!

  3. I wouldn’t store these as tubers, id pot them into seed trays and pop them on a sunny window to get them to shoot again, then id take cuttings and rase those plants for next year.

People root cuttings of dahlias so I wouldn’t cut your losses on them unless they are rotting or damaged. They are surprisingly resilient!

  5. Deffo keep them. Give them loads of muck/compost in the whole next year in sunny spot. You could be amazed by the massive show you get next year.

I absolutely adore dahlias. After a very slow start this year, mine were lovely. Just beautiful. I would bin any loose tubers as they won’t grow, but those in your pic look firmly attached and they will do well next year🌺
