I keep one as an indoor plant. They are easy to propagate. Yours appears to be a partial pad (not sure if it’s cut at the bottom?) so I would let it calluses for a few days/a week before sticking it in a pot of wet (but not soggy) potting soil. Just make sure you plant it with the top end sticking out, the same way it was growing. I usually plant them about an inch deep. Keep the soil slightly humid and just wait.

You can use regular potting soil or a mix with extra drainage. Some are labeled specifically for cacti. I like to use 2/3 regular soil and 1/3 high drainage soil for some of my plants but that not absolutely necessary.
