I don’t know anything, but I had a fern once that looked similar and it needed a lot of humidity
So the Japanese moss ball needs special care. It needs a very well air circulating room because if you keep it in a regular room with no air circulation it can go moldy quickly. These guys are usually kept outside where wind is blowing at all times, as it’s usually in a form of bonsai (there would be a bonsai tree in the center). But because of the fern, you would need to keep it inside in colder months. In indoors, it does well in a bright indirect sun-lighted room or outside in bright shade in warmer months, out of direct sunlight and scorching heat. You may want to use a grow light indoors.
The moss ball has soils inside (traditionally special clay like soil called Ketotsuchi and other granular soils). It needs to be watered by dunking the little guy (moss ball part only) into a bucket of water for 10-15 min until it soaks up all the water inside the moss ball. Then drain it well and put it back to its original location. You water it whenever it weighs much lighter by lifting it up. In winter every week to every few weeks (or if your place is bone dry due to heaters a few times a week). In summer more often as the moss is active and growing as well as the fern. You may need to replace the moss after 3-4 years if they die out (the green ones are alive) and if they become all dried out and become brown they need to be replaced. Btw, you can remove the twine. It shouldn’t come apart if she didn’t make it yesterday or recently.
I made one and couldn’t keep it alive. I hope I can get some tips from this post.
