Now you know, you can join the rest of us trying to work out how to get rid of the furry little bastards as I am beginning to realise that they are a damn site more clever than I ever gave them credit for.
The cat got one or two before boredom set in.
The Magpies sorted a couple of young ones
Trapped a couple before they figured that out.
Poisoned a couple before they went off that (Brodifacoum in grain)
Now seriously considering a 9mm Garden Gun

possibly rat. I don’t see droppings though. if the hole is about 2.5 inches then rat.

Show the droppings.. if they’re sort of a centimetre or so lozenge then it’s likely rats. You’ll tend to see them at breakfast and lunchtime and then after dark. Hedgehogs don’t really burrow so far as I know. It could also be cats thinking there is a rat and trying to dig it out. Also foxes will dig trying to catch rats and mice. Obviously rats are everywhere and the only way to get rid is to take away their reason for being there (a food source like bird food, bins, compost heap), then they will move on.

Looks suspiciously like a rat tunnel to me.
