Hi everyone. I’ve been trying to grow freesias for the first time.
I’ve planted bulbs at the end of Autumn, and care for them according to instructions, keeping soil damp, but not overwatering.
At first, it looked like it was going great, with few of them sprouting at expected time and another one just showing up, but they grew very thin and brittle. They should have reached 60 cm max and they grew to 90, and started breaking under their own weight even with support. Also, recently whole plants started yellowing.
I’m not sure what could be the cause. I thought that maybe they are too warm, but in the other pot, which I keep in a bit colder place, nothing even sprouted so far. I suspect that maybe the soil I’ve used is too heavy.
I’ve used standard garden soil with a LECA drainage. I haven’t seen any pests or mold. What could be wrong?
