Letztes Jahr lebten Frösche hinter meinem Schuppen, also machten sie zu einem winzigen Teich und fügten einige Sauerstoffpflanzen hinzu. Es besteht nur aus einer großen Kunststoffwanne und einem Liner. Es gibt Steine und Kieselsteine, die man sich verstecken kann, und sie scheinen es zu lieben.
Heute entdecke ich einige Frogspawn, die für hier etwas früh zu sein scheint (NW UK) und bin jetzt besorgt über den Frost, Raubtiere usw., die sie dezimieren.
Wir haben 2 Katzen, die meistens die Vögel in Schach halten, obwohl sie die Frösche nie gestört oder einen Vogel getötet haben.
Soll ich es mit Netz abdecken? Etwas für Essen hinzufügen? Jeder Rat, der geschätzt wurde, könnte großartig für die Kinder sein, aber nicht, wenn er hässlich wird.

Maybe you could cover it with a piece of cardboard if there’s frost forecast? Obviously remove it during the day.
You are so lucky! We added a teeny pond for our frogs but haven’t had any frogspawn. We keep going out to look!
If it does get eaten, think of how it has provided a much needed meal to keep the predator alive. They have to eat something themselves, or die! It’s all part of the rich circle of life.
My grandad would put a little milk bottle half filled with water in his pond, it floats on the surface and can prevent ice forming, and makes the ice easier to break when it does form. A bit of insulation over the top could be good? His was a bigger, so I don’t have experience with this sorry! Unfortunately it is nature, and if this batch doesn’t survive, you will hopefully get more later in the year! But so exciting! Genuinely the frogspawn in my grandads pond and seeing the tadpoles grow up and get legs and the tiny frogs(!!) It’s one of the highlights of my childhood:))
Seems a bit soon for frog spawn. They don’t need anything to eat at that stage.
When I had tadpoles, I sprinkled a bit of fishfood into my pond, and they seemed to nibble on it.
And covered my pond with a net fine net as I had a Heron who would catch and eat them.
Lovely. They should be safe.
Only a few of them will make it anyway so I wouldn’t bother
